After School Programs
During the school year, the city offers several options for your child’s care after school. These programs are run by the city and therefore, are based on residency. Please read the information below for details. For a printable version of this information, click here  .
How to Register:
During registration period, visit Pelican Community Park to register. You must complete a registration form per child, provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate, pay the registration fee, and pay the first month in full. There is no deposit.
Registration Dates:
Saturday, July 23rd - Open to Residents
(Proof of residency required, utility bill or lease)
Saturday, August 6th - Open to All
Registration Hours:
Saturdays, 9am—8:30pm
Monday thru Friday, 9am—2pm, 6pm—8:30pm
Afternoon Fun Zone
This is an afterschool program offered for children enrolled in the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8.
Program Days – Monday thru Friday (school days only)
Program Time – Dismissal until 6:00pm
Pick up Location – K & 1st grade, picked up from their classroom
2nd – 8th grades, picked up at the cafeteria
Students are divided into groups of 10, based on grade level, and are assigned one counselor (student: counselor ratio 10:1). Students are provided with a snack per day. Students do have homework time allotted but this is not a tutoring program.
Afterschool Storytelling Hour
This is an afterschool program offered for children enrolled in the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8, only, for Kindergarten and 1st grade only. This program is geared towards students with older siblings who don’t get dismissed until 3pm.
Program Days – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (school days only)
Program Time – Dismissal – 3pm
Pick Up Location – students are picked up directly from their classroom.
Students are provided with a snack daily, and enjoy stories, games, and crafts.

Program fee includes daily activities and lunch. Each day will have a different theme and activities to keep your child entertained while you are at work.
