City Hiring Process

Résumés are accepted for current positions only and may be delivered to City Hall (hours 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) :

Résumés must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. of the closing date or if mailed, be postmarked no later than midnight of the closing date.

The City does not accept faxed, emailed or unsolicited résumés.

A separate résumé must be submitted for each position applied for. Each résumé should include the position title and requisition announcement number (ANN#) of the position for which you are applying.

The Human Resources Department screens résumés for minimum qualifications. Qualified applicant résumés are identified and submitted to the hiring Department Head for review and further consideration. You will be notified by mail if not selected for an interview or the position. The City's hiring process may take several weeks depending on the position(s) being filled.

Pre-Employment Testing, Background Checks and Polygraphs
Applicants selected for employment will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check and a physical examination, which includes drug screening. Job offers are contingent upon successful completion of both of these. Final candidates for all Police Department positions will be polygraphed.
