New Skateboard Racks for the New School Year

(September 1, 2015) – Skateboard Racks have been installed on 181 Drive so that students have a safe place to store their skateboards while in school. The rack, located near the bus shelter on 181 Drive, provides for a way to lock your skateboard so that only you can remove it. You need to bring your own lock, a combination lock that is typically used on lockers works well.

With this new rack installed, it is no longer permissible to leave your skateboard unattended at the park without being in a skateboard rack. This will help to keep our park looking world class and reduce the risk of loss, theft and injuries. Any skateboards left unattended will be removed. Visit the front desk at Pelican Community Park to retrieve your skateboard the first time. Future disregard of this park rule may result in more serious consequences.

Remember, skateboards are not permitted to be used on the sidewalks of Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Blvd. Keep safety in mind on interior streets, always being aware of pedestrians, cars and bicycles, as well as wearing a helmet for head protection. Skateboards are also not permitted in parks. Racks are available at Heritage Park and Town Center Parks to secure your board during your visit. Be considerate of pedestrians and baby strollers, providing them with the right of way.
