Civilians Support Staff
Makes All The Difference…
By Chief
Fred Maas
At the recent December 2004 meeting of Concerned Citizens, Mrs. Francise
Sands, an administrative coordinator who works for and supports Lt. Grandinetti
in the police department, was recognized as employee of the month.
The formula for success in an entity or unit within an organization is simple.
If you are the leader or head of that unit, surround yourself with the best support
staff you can find. Recognize them, acknowledge them, reward them and most of
all appreciate them and they will go to the wall for you in return. That is what
Lt. Grandinetti found and has done with Francise. She is truly his right arm
when it comes to getting things done.
Francise began her career as a dispatcher for us since day one of our agency.
Quickly she was recognized as a competent, helpful employee. Her skills have
led her to now being the coordinator of the dispatch unit under the tutelage
and guidance of Lt. Grandinetti.
Francise has many qualities that are required of a unit coordinator or leader.
She is intelligent, well organized, helpful, a teacher, a trainer and has a spirit
of willingness to learn and develop. She has often exceeded her job boundaries
by helping the Chief (me) from time to time.
More importantly, she volunteers without asking, to do much around the station
as I have written about in articles before. Whenever the station is decorated
for a seasonal event, it usually has Francise’s imprint on it. For all
this and much, much more she was selected as employee of the Month for December
2004. Congratulations!!!
