Dear Residents and Neighbors
By Mayor Norman
S. Edelcup
The year 2005 is going to be a historic year of progress for your City.
During the weekend of January 21, 22, 23 we moved into our new Sunny
Isles Beach Government Center. This event marks the establishment or
our new permanent home for all of our City operations. The building
will house the David Samson Commission Chambers and also house the
new U.S. Post Office facilities. In April the Miami-Dade County Library
will open its 7,000 square foot branch in this beautiful building.
In order to formally recognize
this occasion we are having a “Grand
Open House” ceremony on Friday, February 25th at 2:00 p.m. In addition
to ribbon cutting ceremonies, we will provide conducted tours of the
Government Center for all our attending residents and dignitaries. Please
plan to come to this festive occasion so that I can personally welcome
you into our new City Hall. I look forward to seeing you.
I hope that by this time, you are all enjoying our new City buses and
taking advantage of traveling on these new vehicles that now run 7 days
a week over an expanded route. Also, I hope that you are using them for
the special entertainment and cultural events sponsored by our City throughout
the year.
Additionally, during the year, you will see progress made in developing
two new parks and recreational facilities in Sunny Isles Beach. The Town
Center Park at 172nd and Collins and the Active Park on 182nd and North
Bay Road will both be under construction in 2005. The Commission and
City Staff continue to improve the quality of life in Sunny Isles Beach
with amenities that you have requested and I am dedicated to continue
to make our City better each and every year.
Best wishes and good health to all of you in this New Year. I look forward
to visiting with all of you either here at City Hall or on the street
of our great community.
