Bocce Ball is back in Sunny Isles Beach!
By Sylvia Flores, Administrative Assistant to Director, CHS

By Sylvia Flores, Administrative Assistant to Director, CHSHave you been looking for a new sport? Something you can play outdoors that doesn’t involve straining yourself? Well, the city’s Bocce Tournament is BACK, and we are inviting you to participate.

The city held the first in a series of three tournaments on Thursday, January 18th, at Senator Gwen Margolis Park. There were 16 participants broken up into 8 teams. The skill levels of the teams ranged from seasoned players who have enjoyed the sport for years, to beginners who did not know the rules of the game.

Team members focus on the game.Every team played two games, and then the top four scoring teams were chosen to move to the next round. While waiting for their next game, participants had the opportunity to receive a FREE 10-minute chair massage from a licensed massage therapist. There were also refreshments available for everyone, table games (such as dominoes and chess), and good conversation from friendly neighbors.

Part of the winning team, Barbara Boyle gives it her all.Our 1st place winners, Barbara Boyle and Debbie Watkin, were awarded plaques, but everyone walked away with handy SIBTV tote bags. Our next tournament in the series will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2007, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, at Senator Gwen Margolis Park, as well. You must register your team prior to the event. You can call 305.792.1706 to register your team, or to get more information about the event.
