By Story and photo by Richard C. Schulman, City Historian
The Haitian Lawyers Association’s Masquerade Ball was held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the J.W. Marriott downtown Miami, and had special meaning for the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
Four outstanding community leaders were recognized for their contribution and dedication not only to their profession but as outstanding leaders in Miami-Dade County. One of the Honorees was Hans Ottinot, who serves as the City Attorney for the City of Sunny Isles Beach, and prior to this appointment by the City Commission, he served as a Deputy City Attorney for our City. He also worked as City Attorney for the City of North Miami and the City of Miami Gardens. Before working for the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Hans Ottinot was a litigator with the office of the Attorney General, where he represented State agencies and State Officials in Civil matters in State and Federal Courts.

Mr. Ottinot is an active member of the Haitian Lawyers Association, Caribbean Bar Association, Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association, Cuban American Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has also served as President of the Haitian Lawyers Association.
Mr. Ottinot received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Colgate University in 1992. He was an all ECAC Division I-AA football player. After graduating from Colgate University, Hans attended the University of Miami Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1993. He lives with his wife Margarita and children, Hans Jr. and Lia.
“Hats off” to Hans Ottinot for his accomplishments.
The City of Sunny Isles Beach is proud of you!
Keep up your good work!
