Hurricane Preparedness
Weekly Shopping Lists
By Alyce Hanson, Administrative Services Director

Hurricane season starts June 1. Will you be prepared?

Think about this. What if…

  • You lost electricity for several days, and your refrigerator wasn’t working, would you have enough canned or packaged food?
  • The tap water is possibly contaminated and not drinkable; would you have enough water that is safe to drink?
  • Would you have a flashlight? Would you have the right size batteries for that flashlight? Would those batteries be fresh?
  • Would you have a waterproof container for your important papers?
  • Would you have enough medicine?
  • Would you have a first-aid kit?
  • If ATMs weren’t working and businesses couldn’t run your credit card, would you have enough cash or money orders?

To help you prepare for hurricane season this year, we are publishing 12 Weekly Shopping Lists.

Beginning the week of March 5th just purchase the items you need that are listed on each Weekly Shopping List, and by June 1st your “Hurricane Kit” will be ready.
