Soccer Traveling Teams Excel

The Sunny Isles Beach traveling soccer teams are off to a great start. We are sponsoring two squads an Under-12 team coached by Sergio Merizalde and Joe Aparicio and an Under-16 team coached by Sergio Vuguin and Matias Edelman. The teams play in the Greater Hollywood Soccer League which consists of ten teams from Miramar, Hollywood, Doral, Hallandale, Miami Lakes, North Miami Beach, Pembroke Pines, and the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Our home field is at Mishcon Soccer Field in North Miami Beach. The regular season started in January and will end in March. Playoffs, with the top four teams in each age division, will be hosted in mid-March to decide an eventual champion.

The Under-12 record is 5-4 at this time. They have played some close games falling short of a victory. They are hoping to make the playoffs and end the season on a successful note. The Under-12 squad has outscored their opponents 36-15 in goals. The team is making a strong run for the playoffs which is not out of the question for this team. They have one remaining game which is a make-up on March 4 at 10:15 AM in Doral Park before the post-season begins.

The Under-16 team is sponsored by Christopher Russo and Associates. We would like to thank Mr. Russo for his continued support. Their record is 8-0 and they have outscored their opponents 43-6. At this present time, they are in first place in their division. They have a very powerful offense and a tenacious defense which makes it difficult for the opposing teams. They are a very competitive team that is well coached and technically sound. Their victory on Saturday, February 18th against Paradise “A” soccer team clinched the regular season as champions. There are two games remaining: February 22nd against Paradise ‘A” at 7:30 PM in Mishcon Park and the final game before post-season is on February 25th at 3:30 PM against Miramar Pal in Silver Shores Field.

Congratulations to both of these teams and all coaches for an outstanding season and continued success in the playoffs.
