Permit Fees Waived for Hurricane Wilma Repairs Ends April 26
By Robert C. Solera, Assistant Administrator Building and Code Enforcement and Licensing Department
If you need a building permit to make repairs due
to Hurricane Wilma, you still have time to do so without paying the normal permit fees.
On November 17, 2005 the City Commission adopted Resolution 2005-850, which states:
The City Commission hereby waives any and all City building permit fees and costs for property owners for emergency repairs due to Hurricane Wilma for a six month period. This waiver shall end on April 26, 2006. However, property owners shall be responsible for any and all permit fees and costs associated with any other government entity, such as the State or County.
Time is running out
If you are a business or property owner who has not taken advantage of this Resolution, do so by April 26. Of course you can apply for a permit at any time. Just be aware that after April 26, you will be charged the regular permit fees.
Hurricane season begins June 1. The building department will work with you so that you can get your property repairs done before then.
