The
Blue Grass Motel built in 1951 is located at 18325 Collins Avenue.
This building is another example of Miami Modern (MIMO) architecture
with structural elements including: a castle curtain wall, an angular
roadside neon sign, a jockey on a horse marquee, individual bungalows,
and portholes windows. Its horse racing theme was integrated in a mural
in the restaurant.
The Blue Grass remains part
of Sunny Isles Beach as a motel/condo conversion on 2 ½ sub-tropical
acres. This tourist enclave maintains privacy in a captivating and
relaxing atmosphere.

The magnificent swimming pool.
According
to a brochure from the early 1960’s, amenities at the Blue
Grass Motel included:

water shows ~ Full block private beach ~ Baby-sitter service ~
