April Update
By: Vice Mayor
Lewis J. Thaler
We’re
finally getting the new post office in the City Government Center.
A lease has been signed with the United States Post Office and we hope
to have
it operating on the ground floor of the Government Center in a couple of months.
For now, if you need stamps, etc., there is a mobile post office in the back
of our parking lot for your convenience. It is open Monday through Friday from
9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Our brand new library
will be opened in mid-May and it is part of the Miami-Dade Library
system.
If you have a library card, you are all set
to borrow books and use their facilities. If you don’t have a library
card, they will be happy to set one up for you. All you need is ID showing
your address. It can be your driver’s license or a utility bill.
Some of you may have noticed the trucks from Coastal System and the
State Department of Environmental Protection delivering sand to our beaches.
This comes from Ocean IV and Jade on the Beach and is greatly welcomed
by our residents.
Now is the season when many of our residents start leaving our area
to go up north or to travel the world. I wish you all safe and healthy
journeys and look forward to your return in the fall. Remember, too,
we are only a click away. You can keep up with what is happening here
in Sunny Isles Beach by logging on to the internet. Our web address is
www.sibfl.net; even the Sunny Isles Beach Sun, Community Newspaper appears
there.
