Another Fun-Filled Day for Sunny Isles Beach on May 5

The Cultural & Human Services Department hosted the city’s annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 5, at Sen. Gwen Margolis Park. Those in attendance enjoyed an afternoon of games, rides, music, and food. There was an artist doing body art, a gamemaster hosting a wheelbarrow race and dodge ball, and much more FREE fun for everyone to enjoy.

During the event, the Athletics Division, coordinated by Matthew High, presented awards to participants of the city’s recreational basketball and cheerleading program, as well as the travel soccer program. The coaches for the various sports received awards as well, along with a trophy for “Coach of the Year” to our soccer coach, Sergio Vuguin, who has done a wonderful job coaching the travel soccer team, and has been coaching with the city for over 4 years.

The season for these recreational programs has come to an end, but the Cultural & Human Services Department is now offering Beach Volleyball (instructional) for children ages 5 thru 16. This program will be held out on the beach at Samson Oceanfront Park (174th and Collins Avenue).
