When you step off an elevator on Floor 3 of the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, you will find friendly and helpful permit & licensing clerks at the counter waiting to assist you. These City employees are vital to the building department, as they are the first to help you determine your permitting & licensing needs.

  • Do you need a building permit for that remodeling job? Or not? The permit & licensing clerks will help you figure it out.
  • Do you need to fill out an application for a building permit?
The permit & licensing clerks will help you complete the application and take you through the permitting process.
  • Do you have all the documents necessary for completing the permit application?
The permit & licensing clerks will tell you.
  • Are you opening a business in the City and need a license for that business?
The permit & licensing clerks can help you.

In order to improve customer service to our Latin and Russian communities, these permit & licensing clerks can communicate in four different languages: English, Spanish, Russian & Portuguese. These clerks are ready to serve you and complement the team of City employees who have years of experience in processing plans and applications to obtain the required Building Permit, Occupational License and Certificate of Use.

As evidence of the Building Department’s commitment to providing the best customer service possible to the community:

  • We provide inspections for any trade in the morning and afternoon.
  • Each inspector is dedicated to accommodating the residents and construction companies when scheduling inspections.
  • Residents now can schedule inspections for anytime during the day.
  • The inspectors are available between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. everyday for questions, comments and suggestions.

An appointment made at least a day in advance will assure that the inspector is available to answer your question or discuss any subject related to your business. Please feel free to contact them at (305) 792-1705.

By July 1, 2006 the Department will provide access to all its Building Permit forms, such as the application, check lists, affidavits and fee schedules for the different trades on the City’s website: www.sibfl.net. Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department is preparing the last steps for implementation.
