City’s 9th Anniversary Celebration – June 17

The City of Sunny Isles Beach celebrated its ninth anniversary in style on Saturday, June 17, 2006. This annual event was made extra special this year with the unveiling of the new statue located at the entrance of Samson Oceanfront Park. This statue, representative of a family, was designed by artist David Fisher who was in attendance at the party. As Mayor Edelcup stated in his unveiling speech, this statue represents the “loving family we all are in Sunny Isles Beach”.

Other highlights of the day included a variety of rides, games and family fun, a buffet barbecue dinner, the official cake cutting ceremony and a spectacular fireworks show.

The event was free to all guests thanks in part to our sponsors, RBC Centura Bank, Atlantic Broadband, and our fireworks sponsor, the Sunny Isles Beach Resort Association.
