Acts of Kindness Have No Boundaries…

More than a few years ago, I met the incredible family of Glenn and Daryl Segal and their children. Our first encounter was of a business nature due to a need for police service. The friendship that evolved has lasted ever since and will continue to do so for a lifetime. Mainly, because of them and their goodness and the way they are! Even though our get togethers are limited to only a few times a year, we regularly speak on the phone and certainly check in on each other and how the kids are doing, etc.

One thing I am always sure of is knowing that they are always there for us. And now I know that their “FRIENDS” are as well. You see, whenever there was a special need or concern, the Segals were always there in kindness and generosity to say “yes” to help out. Thru them, I have met many of their friends whom I quickly learned are of the same kindred and generous spirit.

The police department was handling a call whereby an almost incapacitated person became a victim of a crime. Circumstances dictated that her medical condition called for some medical equipment assistance. This need led our assigned Detective Blake Royal to go that extra step and try and help this person. He did and he came across some friends of the Segals who are in the business of medical supplies and just happened to be familiar with the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department and its reputation for helping when they can.

The family of Mark Levithan came to the rescue and assisted Detective Royal in his quest to help this victim in need. I have met Mark before thru the Segal family and I can tell you he was true to his word. “If you ever need anything, please call me.” Well we did and he did; and because of the relationship that was developed many years ago as the result of professionally handling a call for someone, who became our friends, we’ve met more friends and here at Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, are very proud to call the Levithan family our friends.
