Summer in the City

Year-round residents of Sunny Isles Beach get to bask in the glory of “summer in the city,” enjoying special benefits like these all the snowbirds are missing out on...

Less traffic...means it takes less time to get to work – so you can spend more time sleeping, having a leisurely breakfast, reading the whole newspaper, perfecting your hair style – and you might even score extra points for coming in early!

If you don’t have to punch-in, just think how fast you can make it over the causeway to see a movie at the mall without having to worry about missing commercials and coming attractions while waiting on long lines for popcorn. Yet another perk for residents is during the summer, no one has to worry about traffic making them late for appointments. This greatly alleviates stress levels, resulting in better moods, bigger smiles and enhanced longevity!

Hotter weather...means more bikinis at the beach the local guys certainly appreciate – and motivation for everyone to get in better shape! But have you ever wondered why department stores are already featuring sweaters when it’s 90 degrees outside?? Thank goodness savvy Sunny Isles Beach buyers always stock up on the coolest fashions in keeping with the “endless summer” high-style of Florida’s Riviera!

Summer fun...means the Sunny Isles Beach Cultural and Human Services Department is planning entertaining summer excursions. The July calendar includes dinner theater, a Marlins game plus Vegas-style slots and poker at Gulfstream Park that could yield big jackpots for lucky winners smart enough to stay in town!

Beach access....means all the points of entry along Collins Avenue will make it even easier to reach the beach – and since there aren’t as many sunbathers out in summer, you’ll be able to have first-choice of your perfect place in the sun...But don’t be surprised if your spot is commandeered by an international traveler! According to the Convention and Visitors Bureau, after last year’s quiet hurricane season, South Florida is once again a top vacation destination!

Revitalization...means the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission is busy approving proactive initiatives for capital improvements, beautification projects and development of luxurious new properties. So if you’re a year-round resident, this summer you can witness progress in action – like the transformation of Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard - while those who won’t be back ‘til winter will only be able to gasp and wonder, “Wow! How did they build something so fabulous so fast?!”

Turning 10...means Sunny Isles Beach hosted a gala weekend of activities and festivities marking the city’s 10th anniversary since incorporating in 1997. But only residents who were here in June got to join in the celebration...Maybe that’s why so many more families decided to enjoy summer in the city this year - and then stay here 365 days a year!
