“Saying Thanks and Farewell To A Dedicated Employee…”
By Chief Fred Maas

Chief Fred MaasUnfortunately, as time moves on, so do careers and new eras in people’s lives come about. That is why on June 2, 2006, members of city hall and the police department for Sunny Isles Beach gathered to say farewell to Lt. Rick Feisthammel.

For the past 8 years, he has served this community and this police department, unselfishly and with dignity and dedication. He enjoined himself into the various condo association, often times offering solutions to resolve their problems. He was a fixture at almost all city sponsored events and devoted much of his free time and days off and weekends to insure the public safety of our residents at those events.

Lt. Feisthammel was a Regular at City Commission meetings. At the meeting in June everyone wished him a Fond Farewell. He will be missed!!!Lt. Feisthammel was known by many on a personal basis and was respected by all. He ALWAYS tried to help residents understand our position and to help them with their problems. When Lt. Rick came to us in the very beginning, it was to help build the police department from its inception. His original plan was to stay about 3-4 years. He doubled that in no time and we greatly appreciate him for doing so.

Mayor Edelcup thanks Lt. Feisthammel for dedicated sercie at his Retirement LuncheonLt. Rick proved to be a behind the scenes guy, always getting the job done with little recognition for himself. He always made the other guy look good and let them take the credit. He is a truly humble but thankful person for all that he has been blessed with.

Lt. Rick’s goal was simple but constant; to make Sunny Isles Beach and its police department shine and provide a great representation for others.

Lt. Feisthammel with wife Alicia at his Retirement LuncheonWell Rick, you sure did you share in that endeavor. And as you move into the sunset of your more than 33 year career, a stellar one at that, we all join in saying “Thank you and Farewell to our Friend.”
