Installation of Satellite Dishes Multiple Family Residential Zones
By Robert C. Solera, Assistant Administrator Building Department and Code Enforcement and Licensing Department Director
On May 12, 2005, the City Commission adopted City Ordinance 2005-229, which outlines the approved locations for satellite dish antennas installation. This provision ensures compliance with the health, safety and aesthetic objectives of the City.
Below is an excerpt of the ordinance:
A. No satellite dish shall be installed on exterior walls of buildings.
B. Satellite dish shall be located within the exclusive area of a condominium… (the satellite dish shall not be located on the outside of the balconies or walls of the apartment, breaking the envelope of the building).
In order for residents to become familiar with this new Ordinance, the Code Enforcement and Licensing Department will be distributing flyers explaining the ordinance and advising residents of the grace period which ends August 31, 2005. The Department will provide residents (by way of their associations) with a copy of the Ordinance.
As a courtesy, the Department will begin giving warnings to residents who violate this Ordinance before issuing a Civil Violation Notice. The Department will strongly enforce this issue once the grace period ends August 31, 2005.
The City Commission’s efforts to beautify the City are beginning to come to fruition. As we work together, residential areas will be even more attractive, and our City will continue to move effectively towards citywide beautification.
Direct any questions or concerns regarding satellite dish installations to the Code Enforcement and Licensing Department between 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at:
