City Commission Approves Bus Shelters - Locations Selected
By Susan Simpson, Cultural & Human Services Director
At the June 15, 2006 City Commission meeting, the Commission voted unanimously to purchase 12 bus shelters for the city. The order has been placed and the locations of the first twelve have been selected.
It was the request of the Commission that staff recommend 4 locations for each portion of the city; north, central, and south. Additionally, staff recommended locations that have a high level of use, are not near a construction site to avoid damage, and could be installed immediately without interfering with the sidewalk or requiring an easement. The estimated delivery date for the shelters is 9/25/06. They will be installed by the Public Works Department at approximately 1 per week. You can start looking for a new shelter in early October.
The following is a map and description of each location that has been selected to receive a new shelter. For more information about this project, please contact the Cultural & Human Services Department at 305.792.1706.
