From the desk of Lewis J. Thaler, Vice Mayor
August 10, 2005
For all those who have been traveling the world and/or visiting their friends and families, welcome back. I hope you had a very good summer and are ready to join our GREAT upcoming programs this fall. Here is just a sampling of what has been planned for the year: our famous Sunny Isles Beach Sunny Serenade concerts will begin in September, a special jazz program could be starting in the winter season, as well as movie nights, and of course, the Park Lighting ceremony in December. These are only a few of the events being planned. Keep watching for mailings and articles in the newspaper and join in the fun.
The K – 8 School for Sunny Isles Beach is now in the hands of the Miami-Dade County School Board and we are waiting to hear when it will get started. We hope to have that information before the end of the year.
I am happy to inform you that the United States Post Office in Sunny Isles Beach opened its doors on August 1st. It is opened five days a week, Monday to Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. all services are available. You will find it on the southwest corner of City Hall at 180th Street. For more information, call 1.800.275.8777.
Remember our children are back in school. Please drive carefully and remember to stop when a school bus stops to pick up or drop off the students.
Madi and I wish you a good Labor Day weekend and most of all we wish you good health.
