So Long to those
Fun-Filled Summer Days!
By Sylvia Arias
Another
successful summer filled with games, sports, friends, and fun ended
with a spectacular talent show on the last day of camp, August 6th,
2004. The campers practiced for days beforehand preparing unique and
skilled performances for our annual summer closer. There was singing,
dancing, instruments, and much more to fill the air and each camper
participated in preparation, making signs and decorations to thank
the city for a wonderful summer experience.
We
also had a special presentation for our incredible staff, who worked
diligently over the eight weeks of summer to make sure your children
had a fun and safe summer. Each was presented with a small token from
the city of Sunny Isles Beach, along with appreciation for a job well
done. Connie Morrow, president of the Sunflower Society, Inc. was also
able to attend, and was greeted with a warm round of applause from the
campers to thank her and the Sunflower Society Inc. for their many contributions
to our community through participation and donations, including scholarships
offered to children who participate in many of the city's recreation
programs.
Our
toddler summer camp, Camp Tot-Lot, also concluded the same week, and
enjoyed some special activities such as a water day (complete with slip'n'slide
and bubbles) and a party with cookies and treats. As another summer closes,
we can only look forward to more recreation programs for children throughout
the year, including flag football and soccer. For more information about
recreation programs offered by the city, please call (305) 947-0606,
ext. 273.
