Temple announces
Late Friday Night Services
By Rabbi Mayer Abramowitz
Mr. Norman S. Edelcup, Mayor
of Sunny Isles Beach will be the guest speaker at Temple Bnai Zion's
inaugural Late Friday Night Service on Friday, August 27, 2004. Services
will begin at 8:00 p.m. and should conclude an hour later.
The Mayor's subject will be "The City of Sunny Isles Beach -a Vision." He will
lay out a program describing the continuing growth of the City and new plans
for making it both an outstanding cultural center and residential and tourist
area. Questions will be entertained, giving everyone an opportunity to express
his or her opinion as to the future of the City.
"Growth cannot be judged only by the number of rooms or residences available
to its citizens," the Mayor will state. "Growth must also take into consideration
the City's concern for the welfare of its citizens."
Rabbi Mayer Abramowitz, the Temple's spiritual leader will lead the service
giving inspiration to the prayers. Cantor Cesar Beleniski will lead the congregation
in singing Sabbath hymns. "Prayer should be both a reverential moment as well
as a joyous occasion," Rabbi Abramowitz explained. "Therefore the singing during
the services is as important as the meditation."
An Oneg Shabbat will follow the service where refreshments will be served and
where the congregation will have an opportunity to personally meet with the
Mayor as well as with the leadership of Temple Bnai Zion.
In extending the invitation to residents of the City, the energetic Temple
President, Isaac Franco stated, "Members as well as non-members are cordially
invited where a warm welcome will be extended to all."
