Movie Nights and Much More!

Movie Nights in the Park, the City’s free movie in the park program, will kick off the season on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Senator Gwen Margolis Park.

If you are not familiar, the first Saturday of each month the City hosts a free movie at Senator Gwen Margolis Park from October through April. This year, the October movie is moved up to 9/30 due to the holiday the first week in October.

Along with the movie on the big screen, coordinated themed events are planned. For example, this month’s movie is an animated Halloween themed movie. Before the movie starts there will be free activities for everyone to participate in such as; get your picture taken with the Corpse Bride, have your face painted like one of the movie characters, make and eat a craft! All for FREE! Of course popcorn and drinks are available for sale. After all it is a movie! Chairs are not provided so it is recommended that you bring a chair or blanket for your family.

So what are the movies? Well due to copyright conditions we are not permitted to name them in this article but if you call the Cultural & Human Services Department at 305.792.1706, we would be happy to tell you. At that time, you can sign up for our e-mail invite list by providing us with your e-mail address. You will then receive a notice of this movie, a list of the movies planned for the entire season, and a reminder notice of upcoming movies as well as other City sponsored events.

What we can tell you are the dates of the Movie Nights in the Park series, so mark your calendar accordingly and plan to join us on the following dates for a movie and much more:
11/4/06, 12/2/06, 1/6/07, 2/3/07, 3/3/07, and 4/7/07.
