Traffic and safety is my main interest and along with that committee, I work to improve conditions in Sunny Isles Beach regarding ADA-Handicapped access. We are working to make all of our City available to our handicapped citizens.

The City will shortly be receiving new buses and we will eventually be running the Community Shuttle on a seven day a week schedule. We continue to work with the Florida Department of Transportation and Miami-Dade County to improve some of the problems with crosswalks and traffic lights.

Vote in the upcoming presidential election! Register to vote. Applications for absentee ballots and voter registrations are available at City Hall. Look for announcements in the newspaper and on TV for the locations of early voting for the November election.

For any comments or questions you can call me at extension 223 at the main City Hall number 305.947.0606.

I have recently been introduced to a schedule of events that may interest residents of Sunny Isles Beach. The Florida International University, one of our local universities, has an organization dedicated to supporting the many outreach activities sponsored by the various departments within the University. It is called the FIU Biscayne Bay Society and is located at the Biscayne Bay Campus. Their mission is to "help enhance the quality of life, learning, and leisure in the surrounding cities and communities of the Biscayne Bay Campus by publicizing and supporting these programs." They offer a wide range of programs. Some programs are free and some have a fee. You must call to reserve your spot. Join the society or participate in their programs. The office is located at 3000 N.E. 151 Street, LIB 312, North Miami, Florida 33181, 305.919.5381.
