Sunny Isles Beach Building Department Staff Update

In an effort to provide a higher level of customer service to the community, the City of Sunny Isles Beach’s Building Department has acquired the services of a full-time Chief Mechanical Inspector.
It is with great pleasure that I also introduce David Didona, Chief Mechanical Inspector. Let me acquaint you with Mr. Didona’s work history. In 1994, he obtained his CFC Refrigerant Recovery License, in 1995 he obtained his Dade County Unlimited Mechanical Master’s License and he obtained his Mechanical Inspector and Provisional Mechanical Plans Examiner License from the State of Florida. Mr. Didona had worked with Miami-Dade County since 2003 as a Mechanical Inspector and since 1984 in various private companies all related to the trade.
The permit clerks are vital to this department – the connection that the department has with the community at large. All of our permit clerks have been trained in customer service and are also being certified as permit clerks. This certification is a state certification.
The permit clerk team is composed of the following staff:
- Brenda Long, Permit and Licensing Clerk Supervisor.
- Terry Walker, Senior Permit Clerk.
- Mary Ignacio, Senior Permit Clerk.
- Claudia Hasbun, Permit Clerk.
- Federico Jimenez, Permit Clerk.

With many years of experience in the processing of plans and applications this team is ready to help you obtain any required Building Permit, Occupational License and Certificate of Use.
The Building Department is committed to provide the best customer service possible to the community. When it comes to scheduling inspections, each inspector is dedicated to accommodating the public and the construction industry at large.
- Citizens now can schedule inspections anytime during the day.
- Inspectors are available until 9:00 a.m. everyday for questions, comments and suggestions.
