LONG TIME SUNNY ISLES BEACH RESIDENT HONORED
By Susan Simpson, Cultural & Human Services Director

Ellen M. Wynne, resident of Golden Shores in Sunny Isles Beach for over 50 years, was honored by the city at a formal ceremony.

Family, friends, and government officials gather to honor Ellen Wynne and officially open the beach access named for this long time resident. On Friday, October 29, 2004, the city officially dedicated the Ellen M. Wynne Beach Access with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony. Ellen worked very hard with the county and later with the city to ensure that residents on the west side of Collins Avenue would always have access to the ocean. This access point does just that. For this Ellen is very proud that she has accomplished so much and is grateful to the city for their cooperation.

Children and grandchildren traveled from all over the country to be present. Granddaughter Sadie Wynne entertained everyone with a heartfelt rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful. Her performance was the perfect touch to a beautiful morning.
