Plans
continue to move along as 2004 comes to a close
By Vice Mayor Lewis J. Thaler
First on behalf of myself and all the Commissioners and the Mayor, let
me thank you for your confidence in passing all of the Charter amendments.
The dedication of the Ellen E. Wynne Beach Access at Collins Avenue and
193rd street took place on October 29. With her family and friends looking
on, Ellen cut the red ribbon allowing the residents of Sunny Isles Beach
to park their cars and walk onto the beach. At the same time the new
lifeguards stands at 193rd street and at 180the street, are being built
and should be completed by the end of the year.
The school plans are moving along with the Miami-Dade school board prepared
to discuss out program at their December meeting. Meetings are also taking
place to find the necessary personnel needed to run it, as well as planning
what the school will need in order to give our children the finest education
possible. Along with this, we are working on getting the property necessary
for the school building either eminent domain or by buying it from the
owners.
The Alamo property is set to go into court the first week of December
and we hope to have it as a city property by the end of December.
I want to wish you all a very happy, enjoyable, and safe holiday season
and as usual if you have and as usual if you have any questions or problems,
please call me at (305) 947-0606.
