A
Tribute to Sunflower Society’s Sensational Sunday!
By Marjorie York
It truly was a SENSATIONAL SUNDAY at the Emerald Coast Buffet Restaurant
with more than 360 guests attending the public awareness event sponsored
by CATALANO’S NURSES REGISTRY. Thanks also to Blake Roses Florist
for the Sunflowers on the tables and much more. Many thanks to Solutions
Pharmacy for their generous check in honor of Esther Weinberger for her
dedication to helping people whenever she sees the need. More Thank Yous
for the generous check all the way from California from film director and
producer Robert Israel, in honor of his mother, Adele Zales, for her dedication
to Sunflower projects that help save the lives of children and keep families
together. Kudos to Veronica Fuchs for the music and entertainment and for
her help whenever she is needed. We thank our Sunflower Life Member Marjorie
York for her dedication to the people of the South Florida Community. She
is a truly concerned person who can get things done. Most of all we thank
the people in our area for their caring and support for the important work
that is being accomplished by the Sunflower Society, Inc.
Life Member Irving
Kamlet, had faith in Sunflower Society’s past
achievements, it’s current efforts and vision for future projects.
We on the board, thank Mr. Kamlet for his special effort and support
of Sunflower Society’s aims and goals. We appreciate the quality
of this man and we appreciate his involvement. Sunflower has many good,
experienced people working towards ameliorating the burden on families
and the community. Commissioner Lewis J. Thaler’s interest and
his constant effort as the Sunflower Society’s Treasurer makes
a difference! We applaud the help that his wife, Madi Thaler, provided
at the welcome table with Esther Weinberger and Barbara Malament. And,
Sunflower Society Executive Vice President Art Weissman was most articulate
when he took the mike and started the program. He spoke from the heart
and so did Esther, Adele, Marjorie, Veronica and all who came up to contribute
to the program.
Seen around the fabulous Emerald Coast buffet tables enjoying the brunch
were Aventura Commissioner Ken Cohen and his wife Muriel Cohen, Lee Liebman,
Social Director of Oceanview Apartments, Sunny Isles Beach Vice Mayor
Gerry Goodman, Commissioner Roslyn Brezin, artist, author and TV show
host, Conni Gordon, a long time friend and Sunflower member. Tucked away
in one of the side rooms at Emerald Coast was a group of former board
members and past presidents who were active in the 1980s. David Gartner
devoted the afternoon to taking photos and Lewis Luckner brought his
video camera and took a video of our event. Concerned Citizens President
Irving Diamond came up to the mike to offer words of congratulations
to the Sunflower Society.
Throughout the programs,
there was a warm, genuine feeling of being in the company of capable,
caring
people. Words of praise and affection
were spoken for Sunflower founder, former Vice Mayor on the original
Sunny Isles Beach Commission, and current President of the Society Connie
Morrow. Connie spoke briefly about Sunflower’s accomplishments
and aims and goals and introduced speaker Marc Catalano, President of
Catalano’s Nurses Registry. After an interesting discussion, Mr.
Catalano and his wife enjoyed mingling and talking with Sunflower guests.
Claire Hendel, Lauren Anscher, Anh Castro-Kohl were busy selling raffles
and Adele Zales table-hopped as she encourage new members to fill out
applications. Everyone enjoyed the Sunflower Sensational Sunday!
