By Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Director

Cultural and Human Services Director, Susan Simpson On Tuesday, November 21, 2006, the City of Sunny Isles Beach dedicated a spacious Beach Access located at 192 Street and Collins Avenue to William “Bill” Lone. The day was cool, breezy and sunny; a perfect marketing day for a man who was one of the leaders of the renaissance that has transformed Sunny Isles Beach into what it is today.

Commissioner Danny Iglesias, Mayor Norman S. Edelcup, Bill’s family members; Sherri Lone Anderson (daughter), JoAnn Lone (wife), Bill Lone Jr. (son), Stephanie Lone (daughter-in-law), and Jeremy Anderson (son-in-law), Vice Mayor Lewis J. Thaler and Commissioner Roslyn Brezin cut the ribbon in dedication of the beach access.Family and friends gathered and shared stories of their interactions with Bill. His family was very excited and pleased with the dedication as indicated by his daughter Sherri when she stated that they will bring their children to this beautiful beach access and show them the legacy their grandfather has left.

Mayor Norman S. Edelcup honors Bill Lone with a heartfelt tribute. The beach access is clearly marked with a prominent sign, “William “Bill” Lone Beach Access”. We hope everyone has an opportunity to visit.
