The Bocce League started February 11, 2008 with 24 teams competing for a chance to play in the Championship Round on March 11, 2008. The games were held at Town Center Park every Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 PM. Each time a team won a game they were awarded three points and at the end of the regular season the top teams played for the Championship and bragging rights of being the ‘best’ team in the city of Sunny Isles Beach.

The regular season champions in Division “A” were the team of Joseph Tropeo and Giuseppe Mignella and in Division “B” were the team of Julie and Joseph Civiero. Each team competed every week to achieve the status of regular season champions.

On March 11, 2008, the seedings were done for our first tournament. Each game was very close and competitive. The inaugural champions consisted of the team of Julie and Joseph Civiero with the teams of Giuseppe Mignella and Joseph Tropeo finishing second and Donald Giquire and Mariette Guay finishing third.

Congratulations to all the teams that competed in our first annual bocce league tournament. It was a fun time for all and we look forward to next year’s competition.
