Hundreds of children, baskets in hand, could hardly contain their excitement while waiting for the start of the city’s 6th Annual Egg Scramble at Town Center Park on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

There were games, rides, crafts, music, photo opportunities with Peter Cottontail, and a fun-filled egg hunt that stole the show, sponsored in part by Epicure Market. Hundreds of eggs were spread out under 3000 beach balls awaiting the kids as they flew like spring butterflies towards the eggs. Children ages 1 through 12 lined up patiently, waiting on their chance to scramble through an ocean of beach balls and find as many toy-filled eggs as possible. Eight lucky winners found a lucky ticket inside their egg, which they traded in for a basket full of goodies.

For the occasion, dozens of volunteers gave their time to coordinate the different activities, including inflating over 3000 beach balls for the egg hunt. We would like to thank those volunteers, along with the city’s Public Works Department, and Police Department, who coordinated with us to make this event a huge success. We would also like to thank Epicure Market and Milam’s Market for their generous donation.

Guests of the event were able to take home souvenirs such as beach balls, pictures, and the fond memories of a fun-filled day among friends and neighbors in Sunny Isles Beach. It was a complete success with over 1500 people getting together to celebrate.

The festivities begin at 2:00pm, at Pelican Park (18115 North Bay Road), with games, crafts, music, food, an awards presentation for our athletic program participants (including soccer, cheerleading, and basketball), and a special appearance from Radio Disney.
