Perhaps in the Bahammas
City Hall employee Alayne Yeash holds an issue of the Sunny Isles Beach Sun Community Newspaper in front of the smoke stack on the Carnival ship “Fascination”. The ship sailed from Jacksonville, Florida to Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas.
The city of Freeport is a free trade zone operated by the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) on the island of Grand Bahama. The largest vessels can navigate Freeport Harbour allowing access to the port. Grand Bahama International Airport is busy with up to 50,000 flights a year coming and going.
Nassau the capital and largest city is the commercial centre of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The population is 260,000 (2008 census), which is approximately 80 percent of the entire population of The Bahamas (330,000). Located on the island of New Providence, Nassau is considered to be a federal district with no local government; it is governed directly by the national government.
You too can appear in an issue of the paper. When you travel, take a copy of the Sunny Isles Beach Sun newspaper with you, pose with the paper in front of a landmark or with your group. Send the photo with the highlights of your trip to the address below. If you would like your original photograph returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your correspondence.
