Spring Egg-tivities

By Anna Levin

Over 1,500 people flooded Town Center Park to participate in Sunny Isles Beach’s annual Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 11th, 2009. The main attraction at this event is our Egg Hunt, where guests are invited to scramble through thousands of beach balls to look for eggs, candy and prizes. Children and even parents squealed with delight as they uncovered eggs of all shapes and sizes filled with goodies.

The kids were divided into four age groups, and two lucky winners in each group found a lucky egg, which they were able to trade in for a special prize basket. Guests were able to take home a Sunny Isles Beach souvenir (our trademark beach ball) home along with all of the goodies they received. Those who were looking for more to do after they scrambled for eggs, found the main event area filled with many attractions, including games, rides, crafts, story telling, and pictures with Peter Rabbit.

We would like to thank all of our volunteers, along with the city’s Public Works Department, and Police Department, who helped make this event such a huge success. We would also like to thank Epicure Market for their generous donation as well as Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop, Denny’s, Half Moon Empanadas, Milam’s Market, F.I.S.T. Martial Arts, and Miami-Dade County Public Libraries for participating in the event. Photos by Richard C. Schulman unless otherwise noted.

Join us for our next special event, Family Fun Day, on Saturday, May 2nd
2009. The festivities begin at 2:00pm, at Town Center Park (17200 Collins Ave.) with games, crafts, music, food, an awards presentation for our athletic program participants (including soccer, cheerleading, baseball and basketball), and more. This event is FREE admission to everyone. For more information, call 305.792.1706.
