Be Sun Safe In Sunny Isles Beach

Don't forget your hands

People’s hands receive more sun exposure than most other body parts. Sun over-exposure results in damage from ultraviolet (UV) radiation. On the hands sun damage takes the form of brown “age” spots, wrinkles and leathery skin.

Even when sunscreen is applied to other parts of their body, people tend to wash their hands when finished therefore eliminating some of the sunscreen applied to them. A long-sleeved shirt worn to cover the arms doesn’t cover past the wrist. Gloves are no longer part of anyone’s wardrobe, except in the extreme cold weather. So hands are exposed every time we go outside whether it is five minutes, 30 minutes or all day long.

Take precautions with your hands by applying a lotion with SPF 15 as a daily routine. If you plan to be out in the sunshine apply a higher SPF sunscreen 20 – 30 minutes before you plan to be exposed to the sun. Keep several bottles handy every place you may have to spend time in the sun, at your work, in your car and at home.  Re-apply sunscreen if you enter the water or perspire.
