If you didn’t enroll your child in Summer Camp with the City for 2009, you missed out on an amazing summer. Campers had a variety of camps to choose from, including Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Cheerleading, Volleyball, Jr. Lifeguard, and of course, our day camps (Camp Tot-Lot, Camp SIB, and Camp Adventure). With over 50 employees, our counselors and staff planned different activities daily for the campers, along with the many field trips that they participated in. Campers had a blast and were sad to see the summer come to an end.
To close out the summer, our campers participated in a Summer Camp Talent Showcase on Thursday, August 13th. All the campers “strutted their stuff” on stage for parents, friends, and neighbors, to tunes like “Twist and Shout”, “We Go Together”, “Beauty & the Beast”, and much more.
We would like to give a special thanks to the Sunflower Society Inc. This group is a 501©3 nonprofit charitable organization, that has been actively helping the community since 1971, and has generously sponsored children to attend our summer camp program for almost 10 years.
Also, a special thanks goes to Invicta Watch Group, (and owners Eyal and Keren Lalo) for their generous sponsorship of our Junior Lifeguard Camp. All campers received a gift bag with goodies, and a sun-protectant rash guard for their days out on the beach. You can find out more about Invicta Watch Group by going to their website, www.invictawatch.com.
With the start of the new school year, the city is offering after school programs, athletics, and recreation programs for the community. To find out more about these programs, check out the city website, www.sibfl.net, or call the Cultural & Human Services Department at 305.792.1706.
