Hurricane Season Continues Until November 30th

September is traditionally the most active month for hurricanes during the hurricane season that lasts from June 1st – November 30th. So residents are urged to continue to stay informed and watch the weather in the tropics.
In the case of a hurricane and loss of power, be sure to have plenty of supplies on hand including food, water, medicine and pet supplies.
If you are in an evacuation zone (like Sunny Isles Beach) put together a “go box” that has essential supplies including insurance documents.
If you have special needs and need help evacuating before a hurricane or if you wish to evacuate to a pet-friendly shelter, you must request an application to pre-register with Miami-Dade County at: 3-1-1 or 305.513.7700.

Hurricane information is available on the internet on the following websites.

Hurricane information for Sunny Isles Beach is also available in the May-November 2009 issue of the south florida City Guide, Sunny Isles Beach Edition. Copies are available at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, 18070 Collins Avenue.
