Meet Bob Mincow

Chairman, Sunny Isles Beach Planning, Zoning and Beautification Subcommittee

September is traditionally the most active month for hurricanes during the hurricane season that lasts from June 1st– November 30th. So residents are urged to continue to stay informed and watch the weather in the tropics.
In the case of a hurricane and loss of power, be sure to have plenty of supplies on hand including food, water, medicine and pet supplies. I was born in Charleston, West Virginia and grew up in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Brooklyn, NY. After serving in the U.S .Air Force helping operate San Angelo Airbase in Texas, I received a BS and MBA from New York University.

I was President of a NASDAQ listed company and President of the New York Coat and Suit Association with the responsibility of negotiating a national industry union contract. I developed two low cost housing projects in New Mexico and was a co-owner of the world famous Stork Club in New York City. Upon retiring to Florida I served as Chapter Chair and District Director for SCORE and as a member of the Governor of the Florida’s Board of Speech, Language, Pathology and Audiology.

The Sunny Isles Beach Planning, Zoning and Beautification Committee, of which I am Chairman, will be focusing on alternative energy sources. Solar panels and wind structures can capture and store the power into clustered lithium batteries thus reducing our dependence on current expensive power sources. Committee members include Ron Starkman, John Napolitano, Arnold Kushner and Louis Uriarte. The committee is busy exploring the possibility of receiving Federal Stimulus funding for this project which eventually should enable the city to light up the streets, parks, government buildings and even operate our buses and other City vehicles. What great possibilities there are for Sunny Isles Beach to be the forefront of tomorrow’s green technologies!
