Meet Isaac Aelion

Chairman, Sunny Isles Beach Capital Project Subcommittee

Nestled in one of the most prestigious beaches in the world, the City of Sunny Isles Beach rose from a motel strip along the beach, to one of the fastest growing urban and tourism destinations in the eastern United States.  In fact, I would venture to say that we may indeed be the youngest city to achieve so much development in such a short period of time.

I came to the United States from Canada in 1994 and chose Sunny Isles Beach as my place of residence due to family ties.  Little did I know then that I would have the privilege to live through this phenomenal transformation of our City.  To be part of this transformation, in 2002, I joined the City’s Education Committee, and later the Tourism and Development Committee.  I currently live at the Sands Pointe Ocean Beach Resort and Condominium and have been serving on its Board as President since 2003.

The development which the inceptors of the city envisioned is indeed becoming a reality.  With the east side of the City almost completed, the Mayor and Commissioners are now turning the focus to the west side with projected improvements in our shopping and leisure areas.  Parks are being built and projected to maximize our open spaces, and our streets are being beautified by the constant upgrade in the landscaping.  Our new K-8 school and community center together with the public library, have improved the quality of life of our residents.  While our City has come a long way, it is still a work in progress.

I presently serve as a member of the City Advisory Committee and head the Capital Projects Subcommittee.  Moshe Sas, the president of the Winston Towers 700, also sits as a member of this subcommittee.  Our focus is to bring to the Advisory Committee ideas and feasible tentative projects which to our judgment may complement or improve existing structures or open spaces in the City.  On an ongoing basis, we also make reference to the City’s master plan and bring to the attention of the Advisory Committee ideas and feasible tentative projects which to our judgment may complement or improve existing structures or open spaces in the City.  On an ongoing basis, we also make reference to the City’s master plan and bring to the attention of the advisory committee any improvements or amendments which we may see fit.

I invite more members of the public to join our Subcommittee with the aim of contributing their ideas to the improvement of our City.
