Chairwoman: Youth Advocacy Group Subcommittee
I grew up in Carnegie, Pennsylvania and after attending the University of Pittsburgh, I received a BA degree in Physical Therapy from Temple University. I practiced in Washington, DC and moved to Florida, married my husband Richard and became a therapist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami. I retired to raise my 3 children, Laura, Robert and Nicholas.
My desire to be involved with the community led me to become Vice President of the North Miami Beach League and Parent and Teachers Association President of Bay Harbor Elementary School. I became active in Sunny Isles Beach by volunteering for various committees including the City’s Tenth Anniversary Celebration, Education Planning and the Sunny Isles Beach School Trust Fund.
In December 2008, I was selected by Commissioner Bud Scholl to become a member of the City Advisory Committee and became Chairwoman of the Youth Advisory Subcommittee. Along with my energetic associate member Marianna Talalaevsky, we are seeking to provide the children of our City with a safe and healthy environment in which to live by promoting community pride and involvement in programs, activities and events that will enrich their lives.
This summer we sponsored a successful Beach Bash under the supervision of Cultural and Human Services Director Susan Simpson and her Assistant Director Sylvia Flores. One of our goals is to plan other activities and events for our Sunny Isles Beach teens, in order to keep them in a safe and supervised environment.
