More than 1,500 residents and their guests flooded Pelican Community Park for Sunny Isles Beach’s traditional 9th Annual Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 3, 2010.
At 10:30 am, Mayor Norman Edelcup and the City Commissioners kicked off the festivities. Ready, set scramble and the children were off and hopping for eggs to fill their baskets. More than 10,000 candy-filled eggs were hidden under a sea of 3,000 brightly colored beach balls. The baseball field was divided into three age groups and one simultaneous egg hunt was held at 10:30 am. Smaller children age 3 and under were invited to a special egg-hunt held inside the first floor activity room of Pelican Community Park.
After the egg hunt, attendees visited all the fun carnival rides from the flying elephants to the farm playhouse and kiddie carousel and swings to the giant rain bow tube slide. Children of all ages posed for pictures with Peter Rabbit. There was fun food available for purchase. The Craft Corner was abuzz with worker bees crafting their spring creations.
We would like to thank the city’s Public Works Department, Police Department, volunteers and all who helped make this event such a huge success. We would also like to thank Epicure Market for their generous donation as well as Denny’s, Costco and Specialty Cakes for participating in the event.
See the photos below that captured the fun-filled day!
