Perhaps in Badwater, Death Valley National Park, California
Sunny Isles Beach resident Alex Vinokur holds a copy of the Sunny Isles Beach Community Newspaper at Badwater, Death Valley National Park, California. Badwater, the point Alex Vinokur is standing at, is 282 feet below sea level. This point is the lowest point in North America and the second lowest in the Western Hemisphere. Death Valley National Park is also known as being the hottest and driest place in North America. As the temperature reading on Alex’s speedometer shows, 120 °F or greater are common at the Valley. The many plant species and animals in the Valley have had to adapt to this harsh desert environment. The highest temperature ever recorded on the continent was also recorded here in 1913, measuring 134 °F by the Weather Bureau's observation station at Greenland Ranch.
You too can appear in an issue of the paper. When you travel, take a copy of the Sunny Isles Beach Sun newspaper with you, pose with the paper in front of a landmark or with your group. Send the photo with the highlights of your trip to the address below. If you would like your original photograph returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your correspondence.
