‘Anniversary Gifts’
What do you get for the city that has just about everything on its 13th anniversary? Here are some suggestions to help celebrate life in the City of Sunny Isles Beach where the best keeps on getting better every year…
More Palm Trees: The city is always working on implementing streetscape beautification plans, so a great anniversary gift would be even more swaying palm trees to complement the white, sandy beaches – but then again, more sand might be an even better gift since there never seems to be enough beach renourishment projects!
Wider Sidewalks: Wider sidewalks for pedestrian safety would be a very practical anniversary gift for the city – but health and fitness experts advocating the benefits of narrower waistlines could protest claiming wider sidewalks contribute to endorsing the “supersizing of America!”
Culture Shock: A Cultural Arts Center could be a wonderful anniversary gift for the city – and since Sunny Isles Beach is becoming internationally renowned for being “Florida’s Riviera,” it wouldn’t be a shock if famous artists would come to perform, attracting even more “paparazzi” than Lady Ga Ga!
Longer Terms: Due to term limits, Commissioners Gerry Goodman and Roslyn Brezin won’t be able to run again – but many residents feel since they’ve done such a great job, granting them longer terms might be a great anniversary gift for the city…Too bad Comm. Goodman and Comm. Brezin probably already have visions of taking long vacations, sipping tropical drinks by the beach all day and getting spa treatments!
Lots of Napkins: Shorty’s barbecue will be catering the city’s 13th anniversary celebration, so the greatest gift would be cases of napkins – and since Offshore Events is promoting the Offshore Powerboat Challenge by exclaiming, “It’s Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT in Sunny Isles Beach!” another perfect gift would be commemorative bottles of “HOT, HOT, HOT’ barbecue sauce!
Extra Anchors: Considering this year’s Offshore Powerboat Challenge is expected to attract record numbers of international participants, lots of extra anchors would be the perfect anniversary gift for the city to help keep everyone docked in Sunny Isles Beach year-round!
