Hurricane Preparedness - Weekly Shopping Lists

It’s hard to believe but Hurricane Season starts tomorrow June 1, 2010. Are you ready? To help you prepare for hurricane season, we are publishing 12 Weekly Shopping Lists. These lists also appear on SIBTV Cable Channel 77. Pick up a few items every time you shop and before you know it, you will be prepared!

Weekly Shopping List 12 of 12, May 30th

Grocery Store
□    large plastic food bags
□    plastic wrap
□    aluminum foil
□    sandwich bread (freeze until needed)

Hardware Store
□    battery powered camping lantern
□    generator and extra fuel
□    broom, mop and bucket

Those with special needs:
County residents who need assistance with daily living, medical needs, or specialized transportation, must pre-register with the Emergency Evacuation Assistance program. For an application call: Miami-Dade 311 (305.468.5900), TDD 305.468.5402

People with Pets:
You must pre-register for pet friendly evacuation centers. These shelters are for pet owners residing in hurricane evacuation zones, unsafe structures or trailers. Dogs, cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice/rats, rabbits, ferrets, and birds are accepted. Annual rabies vaccinations and a visible Miami-Dade County dog license are required by Miami-Dade County Code. Cats are also required to have annual rabies vaccinations though not a license tag in Miami-Dade County only. Pet owners must bring supplies for themselves and their pet(s). There is a limit four (4) pets per household. A family member must remain in the PFEC with the pet(s). Call 3-1-1 to request an application. BE PREPARED!
