When Miami-Dade County temporarily became “Miami-Wade County” in honor of basketball star Dwyane Wade it opened the door for other possible great name changes that could be made right here in Sunny Isles Beach…
“Funny Isles Beach” – Residents already look forward to an annual Jazz Fest so in the spirit of adding even more forms of great entertainment, why not hold a Comedy Fest too - and just for the fun of it change the name of the city from Sunny Isles Beach to “Funny Isles Beach.”
“Clown Center Park” – The kids would love it if the name of Town Center Park could be changed to “Clown Center Park” and transformed into a real circus complete with zany clowns plus a whole herd of performing elephants (if zoning codes prohibiting zoo animals within city limits could be changed!)
“Marlin House” – Sunny Isles Beach baseball fans who live at the Arlen House surely wouldn’t mind changing the name of their condo to “Marlin House” just to make sure all the great Marlins all-stars feel really honored and never decide to play for any other teams.
“Winston Churchill Towers” – Since many community activists have called Winston Towers home, changing the name to pay homage to an historic statesman like Winston Churchill might encourage a whole new generation of future leaders to move in too!
“Golden Tours” - Extensive beautification projects have made Golden Shores such an enviable place to live, the name of the neighborhood could be changed to “Golden Tours” – proud to welcome busloads of fans eager to see all the beautiful homes enhancing the city.
“Epicure-All” – If the city’s gourmet market changed it’s name to “Epicure-All” it could double as a health and wellness center encouraging people to get in better shape by eating healthier foods.
‘Mallover Beach” – Sunny Isles Beach is the city that has just about everything – except its own mall so maybe one day Haulover can become “Mallover” – the first beachfront mall of its kind featuring a whole store devoted to selling Sunny Isles Beach memorabilia.
“Lehman Good-Causeway” – Since the Lehman Causeway is named after a revered elected official who was dedicated to making the community a better place, it might be fitting to designate “Lehman Good-Causeway” days when the causeway could be used for special events like walkathons and other fundraisers benefiting worthy causes.
“Sunny Marinades” – Everyone loves all the entertaining Sunny Serenade concerts, but considering the enormous success of the city’s recent 13th anniversary party highlighted by a fabulous barbecue, “Sunny Marinades” might be equally popular – especially if famous chefs were invited to create lavish buffets!
“Movie-Starbucks” – Sunny Isles Beach makes such a glamorous setting for film and TV productions, the city’s Starbucks ought to change its name to “Movie-Starbucks” in honor of all the celebrities routinely spotted at hotspots like Acqualina and the Trump towers.
“Wishing Pier” – Once it’s renovated, the historic Newport Fishing Pier could become an even greater tourist attraction if the name changed to “Wishing Pier” - and every visitor could have their greatest wish come true: Living in Sunny Isles Beach year-round!
