Life in the City

By Bari Auerbach

New Starts

Just about everyone makes New Year’s resolutions they may or may not wind up keeping – but here are some new ones you might want to add to the “Sunny Isles Beach list”:

Start a Diet: Instead of a whole ice cream sundae – just get one scoop – and if your resolutions included being more social and frugal, invite a few friends and share your favorite flavor!

Start Exercising: You could be inspired to start walking or jogging along the beach – only if you don’t discover the big secret: All those fit looking people basking in the sun are actually models paid by the city to make Sunny Isles Beach look in such great shape!

Start Relaxing: If you’re really not in the mood to exercise, Sunny Isles Beach has many parks perfect for relaxing…but if you start feeling guilty because you’re in one of the city’s “active” parks, just connect to the free WiFi service on one of your favorite devices and watch an exercise video!

Start Conversations: If you’re still searching for your soul mate, try striking up a conversation at a market with really narrow aisles so you can’t help but getting up close and personal with someone special. While at Starbucks, you could also offer to pay for an intriguing person’s Frappuccino…Even if you don’t get a date, you’ll still get reward points if you use your Gold Card!

Start Budgeting: Around this time of year, lots of people resolve to start saving more and spending less – but with so many great neighborhood stores so close to home, it’s hard not to do the exact opposite. But who needs financial advisors when you’ve got so many friends who can always alert you about all the best bargains and post-holiday sales around town!

Start Returning: Now would be a good time to return some holiday gifts since it’s finally possible to find a parking spot before your toddlers turn into teens. And if you’re going to return that ugly sweater from Aunt Betty, make sure you’ve already lost enough weight to be able to run really fast if you see her in the same return line!

Start Preparing to enjoy another great year in Sunny Isles Beach, where there’s at least 2012 reasons to exclaim: “I love life in the city!”
