Life in the City

By Bari Auerbach

‘Summer in the City’

Year-round Sunny Isles Beach residents get to bask in the glory of “summer in the city,” enjoying special benefits like these all the snowbirds are missing out on...

Less traffic...means it takes less time to get to work – so you can spend more time sleeping, having a leisurely breakfast, reading the whole newspaper, perfecting your hair style – and you might even score extra points for coming in early!

Hotter weather...means more bikinis at the beach and more motivation for everyone to get in better shape!  But have you ever wondered why department stores are already featuring sweaters when it’s 90 degrees outside??

Bargains...mean area restaurants are offering special summer menu specials so you can eat a lot for less – totally sabotaging that bikini diet. But fortunately, many Sunny Isles Beach condos and resorts have gyms and spas where you can burn off that bagel with cream cheese or crème brulee!

Perfect tans…Instead of going to work – work on your tan and fulfill some summer time community service hours…After all, Sunny Isles Beach does have a reputation to uphold for being home to those who enjoy the best combination of lifestyle and luxury!

Hurricane season…means now’s the time to stock up on plenty of bottled water  – although many Sunny Isles Beach residents prefer bottles of fine wine…essential if you’re going to be dining by candlelight when there’s no power.

Summer fun...means residents will enjoy special events like “Rock the Beach” on August 25 at Heritage Park featuring live entertainment presented by local artists battling it out for “1st place” – or maybe an even more coveted award: The chance to be blown out of a cannon on America’s Got Talent

Progress....means the City Commission will continue working on proactive initiatives this summer…Wouldn’t it be great if they’d authorize free suntan lotion and ice cream for everyone, paid days off for beach parties or barbecues - and of course, a resolution declaring absolutely no hurricanes come close to Sunny Isles Beach from now ‘til November!
