Federal Workstudy Intern Program

What is the city of Sunny Isles Beach Federal Workstudy Intern Program?
This is a federal program designed for currently enrolled college students and is intended to give real-life working experience, preferably within your major, to program eligible students.

Am I eligible for your program?
You are eligible if you meet the following requirements:
- You are currently enrolled in college
- You are eligible to participate in the Federal Workstudy program as determined by your College's Financial Aid Office.
- You meet the requirements of the particular job posting
- You are recommended by your Financial Aid officer

How do I know about Internship Opportunities?
- Internship openings are sent to your college Financial Aid Office.
- All openings are advertised on the City's web site - www.sibfl.net
- All openings are posted at City Hall.

I have seen a workstudy opening I wish to apply for. How do I apply?
YOU MAY APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE CITY. On identifying a position of interest, please do the following:
- Contact your Financial Aid Office. They have been provided all of the information to guide you through the process.
- If for some reason, they cannot, please have them call the City's Human Resources Director at 305-947-0606.

All of my paperwork has been submitted through my college, what is next?
If your school determines that you meet the requirements of the program, they will send the application to us. The city of Sunny Isles Beach, Human Resources Department, will screen your application, and if you meet all of the city's requirements for the position, you will be scheduled for an interview with the hiring department. If you are selected, then:
- A Records check will be done - once cleared,
- You will be hired and notified when you should come in to fill out necessary paperwork. The City will also notify, and coordinate with, your Financial Aid Office.

How long will I be hired for and how much will I be paid?
The typical period of employment is September through April, 20 hours per week. Summer employment is dependent on available program money and need of the City. You will be paid bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) and will be paid the amount listed on the job posting, usually $8 - $10 per hour depending on qualifications.

What are my responsibilities during my internship?
Among your responsibilities are:
- To arrive to your job on time.
- To follow the instructions of your supervisor.
- To follow policies, and procedures as explained to you by your supervisor.
- Act in a professional manner at all times.

Summary
No matter by what means you learn of our program, please remember you must first be processed and recommended by your college. Your application to the City will not be processed if this first requirement has not been met.
