(Tuesday, April 30, 2019) – May is National Bike Month and the City of Sunny Isles Beach will be partnering with the NSE SIB K-8 School to hold two events.
Street & Bike Safety Presentation
The first event is a Street & Bike Safety presentation organized by the SIB Police Department and the Sunny Isles Beach K-8 PTSA. On Tuesday, April 30 at 6 pm the public is invited to attend this event in the NSE SIB K-8 School Cafeteria. Topics covered include rules of the road, who needs to wear a helmet, right of way, crossing the street and safety rules and ordinances. Free helmets will be available for students only. Free pizza will be served from 5:30 pm – 6 pm (first come, first served).
Bike to School Day
Wednesday, May 8 is National Bike to School Day. The NSE SIB K-8 School in partnership with the SIB Police Department and the University of Miami will hold a Bike to School event beginning at Senator Gwen Margolis Park, 17815 North Bay Rd. Students will meet at the park beginning at 7:15 am for check-in and then bike to school from the park beginning at 8 am. This event is also open to students riding scooters. All participants, students and parents, on bikes and scooters must wear a helmet to participate. Riders will be accompanied by SIBPD officers.
