(Friday, February 2, 2018) – As a community, we are constantly looking for ways to expand our cultural horizons. With the opening of Gateway Park in November 2017, we now have a new venue with a first-class outdoor stage and surrounding park unique to Sunny Isles Beach.
Last year, our annual Jazz Fest was presented in Gateway Park for the first time and attendance was the strongest in the event’s 10-year history. This demonstrated to us that the strength of the venue is as important for our residents and guests as the entertainment. On February 24, we are celebrating the official grand opening of Gateway Park with a special concert by south Florida native Cassadee Pope, a Grammy nominee and the first female winner of television’s The Voice.
With an eye toward our diverse population, we have an exciting 2018 event schedule featuring local acts across multiple cultures and genres. This year’s Jazz Fest will still include jazz, but will not be limited to traditional jazz music. Building on the past year’s success, we are hosting an assortment of performers covering a broader spectrum of music including Brazilian Jazz. With this event and others, like a dueling pianos night, which encourages audience participation by taking requests, Gateway Park will become our new hub of cultural activity throughout the year.
We often hear the famous line from the movie Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come.” In the case of Gateway Park, Sunny Isles Beach has created our own filed of cultural dreams – we built it and our residents and guests came! Stay tuned and be on the lookout this year for great opportunities to enjoy a variety of shows at Gateway Park.
